I can’t believe you made me dine and dash in San Francisco and
Got drunk at my dad’s and woke every one singing Mendocino
Well your voice was all out of tune and my dad’s been sober since 2002
Well I’d thought I’d lost my wallet in Sausalito
But maybe it was my mind telling me Mendocino
Your dad makes me nervous it’s true
Born-agains are always making me blue
Let’s just buy bottle and take it slow, let’s just kick back ‘til our flight home
Buddy, you just make me laugh, first you get us kicked out and now we’re out of cash
And this motel gives me the creeps, how many beers are you gonna drink?
I called your dad and he says we’re cool
Drinking beer in bed used to be your thing, too
There’s room in here for two, if I ain’t mistaken that’s me and you
In this motel I ain’t gonna take off my clothes
If we were at a place like the Fairmont, well then buddy who knows
But that’s as far from the truth as me making it in this dump with you
You used to say that we were like gold, now you just make me feel so old
My brother said he’d wire us some cash
We’ll skip the bed we’ll go out and have a blast
I’ve never seen a real hippy it’s true and there’s thousands here with nothing to do
Remember when we used to have a gas with just a bottle and a glass
They used to call this the Golden State
Let’s get out before it’s too late
We used to call this the Golden State
Let’s get out before it’s too late
amazing live set. I saw RF many times over the years and saw them on the final tour, although not this gig. this is a classic set of songs and a good representation of them live, my favourite was always the epic Western skyline so shame its not here, but loads of classics to enjoy old and new, I love the long atmospheric lost in the trees/willamette. Willy was always very funny with his stories made up and true. I miss them so much. Philip Pepperell
I love this album. Vlatuin and his band create unsettling soundscapes that vividly render the desperation found in the novel. But don't worry, you don't to read the excellent "Dont Skip Out on Me" to listen to this album. timstoryisamazing
1st time i heard DeathWish, i turned it off.
felt rushed, not the Isbell i've come to admire. really grab'd me when i took time to listen on the 2nd try. the writing on these songs stopped me in my tracks more than once. raw talent with just enough polish in the delivery.
thankyou Jason + 400 for another keeper swirlingmadness
